Vital Diabetes Info

By Ronny Pratteroll

Apart from cancer, one disease that really freaks people out is diabetes. In here you'll be able to know about the symptoms of diabetes and how is diabetes caused.

Diabetes is a condition in which the body malfunctions in either one or both of these ways: it does not produce enough insulin or it does not properly respond to insulin. Insulin is actually the hormone that prompts cells to take up glucose for it to become energy. Because the body cannot absorb glucose, it is accumulated in the blood, often leading to various complications. Diabetes in its purest sense has two types: type 1 and type 2.

The first type of diabetes is categorized as an autoimmune disease that's arises because of genetic tendencies and other factors. In this classification, the very own immune system of the person attacks the beta cells in the pancreas which produces the insulin. This brings about symptoms such as frequent urination, unusual thirst, extreme hunger, unusual weight loss and extreme fatigue and irritability.

Type 2 diabetes on the other hand, is a lifestyle-related disease. This type is brought about by resistance to insulin or the human body's inability to react to insulin. This is the reason why even if there's so much insulin in the blood the body still doesn't do anything. As a result, glucose can't be transferred from the blood into cells which lead to an increase in blood glucose level that has its very detrimental effects on the body. The effects do not seem serious at first that is why it is important that people be vigilant about the following signs of type 2 diabetes which include excessive thirst and appetite, increased urination, unusual weight loss or weight gain, fatigue, nausea and even vomiting, dry mouth, slow-healing sores or cuts, itching skin and blurred vision. The symptom that is most prevalent in women is vaginal infections.

If you have some or all of the symptoms mentioned, then it is recommended that you visit a doctor. When you do, you will go through tests that will diagnose you of the condition and then you'll be prescribed with medicines to manage the condition. Aside from the medications, the doctor could also advise you to modify your diet. If you just make it a point to follow the doctor's advice, then you're good to go. But this doesn't mean you shouldn't be vigilant because there are symptoms that warrant you to seek immediate medical attention.

These signs are nausea, weakness, excessive thirst and urination and abdominal pain. Also included are rapid, deep breaths that smell like nail polish remover or weakness and fainting spells, rapid heartbeats, trembling, excessive sweating, and sudden drowsiness.
